Dance at W&L returns to the Keller
stage for their last concert of the 2003-2004 season!
W&L Jazz & Tap and the W&L Ballet will
present their combined spring dance performance on
Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 8pm in the Keller Theatre of
the Lenfest Center for the Performing Arts. The W&L Jazz & Tap, under the direction of Mary Christopher 06, was formed this past fall to foster and enhance a love of dance among students of W&L. In addition, the group is working diligently to recruit additional members by raising overall awareness on campus. Aside from dancing, these young women are planning creative outreach activities for the remainder of the 2003-2004 school year and the 2004-2005 school year. Events include performing at the Mayflower nursing home and Dance Marathon for the organizations fundraising. The group will perform a variety of student-choreographed pieces, including a jazz piece to the music of Latin pop star Shakira. Katherine Fischer 06, will also present a piece performed by the beginner hip-hop class sponsored by Panhellic at W&L. W&L Ballet, under the advisement of Missy Floyd, is a student-run organization led by Victoria Guroian 04. The ensemble, consisting of undergraduate, law students, and guest community members, will perform exerpts from Paquita, choreography by Petipa and staging by Missy Floyd. Additional ballet performances include Handels Concerto Grosso and pieces to the music of Enya. Graduating senior, Victoria Guroian 04 will also present a senior piece commemorating her four years dancing with the ensemble. The performance is open to the public, and no tickets are required. |
